My year in Dubai

Last mth on the 24th, I completed my first year away from home. It's been a ride. Remembered the first day saying goodbye to all my friends and walking into this new apartment and welcomed by the 2 room mates who I'm really glad to call friends. They really made a home away from home. So as i sit here, I can't help but recall all the good and not so good times I've had here.

I just got back from a dinner I had with a girl named Jackie. She's from Singapore but has been living in all the continents of the world. Really well travelled. She has decided to leave Emirates and go live with her Hubby-to-be in Riyadh after their wedding in Singapore on 07-07-07. She's happy that she's gonna be with her husband Greg. This couple is amazing cos they've been together for 3 years and been apart as long as they've been together. And now finally they're gonna get married and finally settle down together. I guess i admire the fact that she has done everything she wanted to and finally just chill out and live under the comfort and support of her Hubby. Here's wishing her good luck!!! You will be missed!!

Earlier last month, another friend of mine Ikuyo is also leaving Dubai. I met her earlier when I went for the interview in SG. She was so memorable cos she was Japanese and her husband is Singaporean and they have a child. And her ultimate dream was to become a cabin crew. I was so happy when she made to Emirates as well. One thing I do regret is not spending time with her until the week she left. But I guess it's better late than never. She's leaving cos she's been away from her family too long. She really wants to stay but she cares for her husband handling things all by himself. Shindo is probably one of the inspiring ladies I've met and she is so CUTE! (It's just something about Japanese, isn't it?)

Well the year has gone and I'm sure I'm going to haf more of these farewell dinners which I'm not looking forward to but it's part of life. For all my friends who are going to leave, before it's too late... Thanks for making my year a memorable one!
